My Philosophy & Story
My Philosophy:
I view the challenges you’re facing not as ‘disorders’ in the traditional sense but as part of the rich tapestry of human experience. Life is hard, and everyone struggles and faces difficult times – it’s just part of being human.
Instead of labeling these experiences as pathologies or medical conditions, I approach them with compassion, seeing them as natural responses to the complexities of life and your particular situation. By reframing these challenges, we can work together to find understanding, growth, and healing—not just surviving the crisis, but transforming the patterns that brought you here.
My Story
I became a therapist because therapy changed my life – but not the kind of therapy where you just vent and nothing changes. I’m talking about the deep, exploratory kind where you bring the hard topics and create deep and meaningful change.
When my life fell apart, I found a therapist who didn’t just listen passively. He asked hard questions. He challenged my thinking. He helped me see patterns I’d been blind to. Most importantly, he gave me permission to be me – which sounds simple but was actually life-changing.
That experience showed me what’s possible when therapy goes beyond surface-level support. It inspired me to help others in the same way—not just surviving difficult times, but understanding the patterns underneath and doing the deep work that creates lasting change.
Now I work with people at crossroads – individuals stuck in patterns they want to break, navigating new territory (and all that comes with big changes), and couples unsure whether to stay together or part ways.

My Approach to Divorce Work
Many people who come to me for divorce therapy don’t just want to survive it—they want to understand what happened so they don’t repeat it.
Divorce rarely happens randomly. Usually there are patterns—ways of relating, avoiding, people-pleasing, or losing yourself that didn’t start with this marriage. Maybe you’ve been making yourself small your whole life. Maybe you’ve never learned how to have conflict without shutting down. Maybe you keep choosing partners who can’t meet your needs.
The work we do together often includes:
- Getting through the immediate crisis (emotions, decisions, co-parenting
- Understanding the negative patterns in your marriage and each person’s role
- Identifying what YOU brought to the relationship that wasn’t serving you
- Healing the wounds that created those patterns in the first place
- Building skills you never learned (boundaries, assertiveness, self-worth)
- Making sure your next relationship is fundamentally different
This deeper work takes time—often 1-2 years. But it’s what transforms divorce from just an ending into an opportunity to understand yourself better and create healthier relationships going forward.
